Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) shares the concerns expressed by Rainforest Action Network
(RAN) in their latest report “Protecting the Leuser Ecosystem: A Shared Responsibility” and
agrees collective effort is needed to protect this important ecosystem.

We have been working collaboratively within our supply chain since late 2014 to identify and
work to resolve deforestation and community concerns. Specifically we have been working
with PT. Surya Panen Subur II (PT. SPS2) to establish a peat moratorium and to develop an
action plan with this supplier to help them meet GAR’s Social and Environmental Policy
requirements.

As mentioned in the RAN report, based on GAR’s investigation there has been illegal
encroachment of moratorium areas by a rogue company and local communities at PT SPS2
estates. Management of PT SPS2, with the support and commitment from GAR and local
authorities, is working to achieve solutions for sustainable palm oil production.

Reports of the progress of our engagement with PT. SPS2 and other suppliers will be
provided through the GAR Sustainability Dashboard.
