GAR/SMART have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with non-governmental organisation (NGO) SNV Netherlands Development, to work together to help palm oil smallholders increase their field productivity and income, and apply for sustainable palm oil certification. The main purpose of the South Sumatera Partnership for Sembilang-Dangku Landscape Management MoU is to help the smallholders:

  • minimise risks of production activities which are not in line with Golden Agri-Resources Social and Environmental Policy (GSEP),
  • increase their field productivity through best practice sharing resulting in higher income,
  • apply for sustainable palm oil certification, such as Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO), International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

Working with SNV, we aim to provide the smallholders with training on the importance of being sustainable and to help prepare them  achieve sustainable palm oil certification.
